Motorola was an American multinational telecommunications company founded on September 25, 1928. During the time 2007 to 2009 they lost $4.3 billion, force the company to divided into two independent public companies, Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions on January 4, 2011. Motorola Mobility was acquired by Lenovo in 2014. On January 29, 2014, Google announced Lenovo plans to acquire the Motorola Mobility smartphone business. Google maintained ownership of the vast majority of the Motorola Mobility patent portfolio, including active patent applications and invention disclosures, as a part of ongoing relationship with Lenovo.
